Anisotropic spin freezing in lightly-doped La$$_{2-x}$$Sr$$_x$$CuO$$_4$$

We performed polarized neutron scattering experiments in lightly-doped La$$_{1.982}$$Sr$$_{0.018}$$CuO$$_4$$, which shows both N$'e$el ordering and spin-glass state at low temperatures. Three-dimensional neutron polarization analysis was performed on diffuse magnetic peaks in the spin-glass phase. From the analysis, we concluded that the ratio of the spin components along the $$a$$, $$b$$ and $$c$$ axes is 0.8, 1.0 and 0.15, respectively, indicating that the low energy spin fluctuations ($$|E|$$$$<$$1.7 meV) have the XY anisotropy.
