Superdeformation in asymmetric nucleus Ar

タンデム加速器からの70MeV OビームをMgターゲットに照射し、Arの高励起状態を生成した。多重線検出装置GEMINI-IIを用いて多重線測定を行い、Arにおいて2から12までの5本の線遷移からなる回転バンドを発見した。得られた遷移四重極モーメント1.450.15ebはこのバンドが超変形(長軸と短軸の比が2:1に近いラグビーボール型変形)を有することを示唆した。cranked Hartee Fock Bogoliubov計算により、このバンドの性質を調べ、多粒子,多空孔配位であることを確かめた。

A rotational band with five -ray transitions ranging from 2 to 12 states was identified in Ar. The deduced transition quadrupole moment of 1.45 0.15 eb indicates that the band has a superdeformed shape. The nature of the band is revealed by cranked Hartee Fock Bogoliubov calculations and a multiparticle-multihole configuration is assigned to the band.
