Present status and prospects of fast reactor development

本稿では、(1)国際協力枠組みGIF(第4世代原子力システム国際フォーラム)等の下で進められている高速炉開発の意義(U資源有効利用&環境負荷低減)、(2)我が国における高速炉開発の歴史及び今後の動向(技術ロードマップ策定等)、(3)仏国ASTRID炉をはじめとした海外での高速炉開発の歴史と現状を紹介する。それを受けて、再生可能エネルギーとの適切な組み合わせ等、次世代炉が拓く原子力将来像の実現への挑戦を提言する。

In this article, (1) significance of the development of fast reactor (Effective use of Uranium & Reduction of environmental burden) which is being conducted under international collaboration such as Generation IV International Forum, (2) past activity & future direction on the development of fast reactor in Japan and (3) those in the foreign countries including French ASTRID reactor development. Taking this situation into consideration, challenge to realize the target on future nuclear system, such as appropriate combination with renewable energies, is proposed.
