Times Cited Count:64 Percentile:83.38(Multidisciplinary Sciences)A new superheavy element complex, a seaborgium carbonyl, has been successfully synthesized, and its adsorption property has been studied using a cryo-thermochromatography and -detection apparatus COMPACT. Nuclear reaction products of short-lived Sg preseparated with a gas-filled recoil ion separator GARIS at RIKEN were directly injected into a gas cell filled with He/CO mixture gas, and chemical reaction products of volatile carbonyl complexes were trasported to COMPACT. The Sg carbonyl complex detected with COMPACT was found to be very volatile with adsorption enthalpy of 50 kJ/mol, from which we have concluded that this complex should be a Sg hexacarbonyl Sg(CO). This is the first synthesis of organometallic compounds of transactinide elements for which only simple inorganic comounds have been synthesized so far.

The chemical and atomic properties of the heavy elements with atomic numbers Z 100, affected by strong relativistic effects, are studied at an-atom-at-a-time scale using the JAEA-ISOL. We successfully determined the first ionization potential (IP) values of heavy actinide elements from fermium (Fm, Z = 100) to lawrencium (Lr, Z = 103) by using a surface ion-source installed in the Isotope Separator On-Line (ISOL) at the JAEA tandem accelerator facility. The adsorption behavior of Lr is being studied by a newly developed method combining vacuum chromatography with surface ionization in a metallic column/ionizer of the ISOL as well.

The adsorption enthalpy of the Sg dioxydichloride on a quartz surface ((SgOCl)) has been reported to be -98 kJ/mol. The result, however, is still ambiguous because the value was evaluated based on a few experimental points with large statistics errors. To obtain a reliable (SgOCl)) for a discussion of an influence of relativistic effects, a stable gas chemistry apparatus with good reproducibility is mandatory. In this study, we have conducted offline experiments of an isothermal gas chromatography) with short-lived Mo isotopes originated from a Cf fission source. We searched for experimental parameters for an on-line experiment. At the presentation, we will present the obtained optimum conditions for gas chromatographic separation of group-6 elements and determined (MoOCl)).
