非常に中性子が過剰な原子核$$^{28}$$Oは、陽子、中性子ともに魔法数であることから古くからその性質に興味が持たれていたが、酸素の最後の束縛核$$^{24}$$Oよりも中性子が4個も多いため、これまで観測されてこなかった。この論文では、理化学研究所RIBFにて$$^{29}$$Fからの1陽子ノックアウト反応によって$$^{28}$$Oを生成し、そこから放出される中性子を測定することによって初めてその観測に成功した。核構造の観点からは、$$^{28}$$Oでは二重閉殻が保たれているか興味が持たれていたが、実験で得られた分光学的因子が殻模型計算で予言されて程度の大きいことから、閉殻構造をもたない可能性が高いことがわかった。

$$^{29}$$Neからの1中性子除去反応を用いて、$$^{28}$$Neの詳細な$$gamma$$線分光を行った。平行運動量分布の解析に基づき、$$^{28}$$Neの準位構造とスピンパリティを決定し、初めて負のパリティ状態を同定した。測定された断面積と運動量分布から、N=20とN=28のシェルギャップの消失の証拠となる有意なintruder p-wave強度が明らかになった。束縛状態については、弱いf-waveの可能性のある強度が観測された。いくつかの有効相互作用を用いた大規模殻模型計算では、実験的に観測された大きなp-wave強度と小さなf-wave強度は再現されず、Ne同位体に沿った反転の島への遷移の完全な理論的記述への挑戦が続いていることを示している。

In situ neutron diffraction experiments have been performed under loading in cast-wrought (CW) and additively manufactured (AM) equiatomic CoCrNi medium-entropy alloys. The diffraction line profile analysis correlated the faulting-embedded crystal structure to the dislocation density, stacking/twin fault probability, and stacking fault energy as a function of strain. The results showed the initial dislocation density of 1.8$$times$$10$$^{13}$$ m$$^{-2}$$ in CW and 1.3$$times$$10$$^{14}$$ m$$^{-2}$$ in AM. It significantly increased up to 1.3$$times$$10$$^{15}$$ m-$$^{-2}$$ in CW and 1.7$$times$$10$$^{15}$$ m$$^{-2}$$ in AM near fracture. The dislocation density contributed to the flow stress of 470 MPa in CW and 600 MPa in AM, respectively. Meanwhile, the twin fault probability of CW (2.7%) was about two times higher than AM (1.3%) and the stacking fault probability showed the similar tendency. The twinning provided strengthening of 360 MPa in CW and 180 MPa in AM. Such a favorable strengthening via deformation twinning in CW and dislocation slip in AM was attributed to the stacking fault energy. It was estimated as 18.6 mJ/m$$^{2}$$ in CW and 37.5 mJ/m$$^{2}$$ in AM by the strain field of dislocations incorporated model. Dense dislocations, deformation twinning, and atomic-scale stacking structure were examined by using electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM).

CoCrNi medium entropy alloy (MEA) and stainless steel 316L (SS316L) were manufactured by direct energy deposition of additive manufacturing (DED-AM). Exceptional mechanical properties of DED CoCrNi at 210K were achieved by the activities of a multiple deformation scheme that changed from dislocation slip to twinning-induced plasticity followed by transformation-induced plasticity. While SS316L at room temperature has micro-twins, CoCrNi at 210K exhibited nano-twins, resulting from lower stacking fault energy. Moreover, transformed hexagonal close-packed (HCP) phases were found near the face-centered cubic (FCC) {111} grain boundaries, where remarkable stacking faults and severe lattice distortion were measured.

The synthesis of sandwich-shaped multinuclear silver complexes with planar penta- and tetranuclear wheel-shaped silver units and a central anion is reported, along with complete spectroscopic and structural characterization. An NMR mechanistic study reveals that silver complexes were formed in the following order: 2Ag $$rightarrow$$ 3Ag$$^{rm H2O}$$ $$rightarrow$$ 5Ag$$^{rm OH}$$ $$rightarrow$$ 4Ag$$^{rm OH}$$. The central hydroxides in 4Ag$$^{rm OH}$$ and 5Ag$$^{rm OH}$$ exhibit exotic physical properties due to the confined environment inside the complex. The size of these silver wheels can be tuned by changing the central anion or extracting/adding one silver atom. This study provides the facile way to synthesize discrete wheel-shaped multinuclear silver complexes and provides valuable insights into the dynamics of the self-assembly process.

A new high-spin isomer in the neutron-rich nucleus $$^{128}$$Cd was populated in the projectile fission of a $$^{238}$$U beam at the Radioactive Isotope Beam Factory at RIKEN. A half-life of T$$_{1/2}$$ = 6.3(8) ms was measured for the new state which was tentatively assigned a spin/parity of (15$$^-$$). The isomeric state decays via the emission of a 309-keV $$gamma$$ ray with $$E3$$ multipolarity. The experimental results are compared to shell model calculations performed using state-of-the-art realistic effective interactions and to the neighbouring nucleus $$^{129}$$Cd. The comparison with calculations shows that adjustments of the pairing and multipole parts of the effective interaction derived from the CD-Bonn nucleon-nucleon potential are required in order to describe the properties of nuclei in the region around $$^{132}$$Sn.

The $$beta$$ decay of the semi-magic nucleus $$^{130}$$Cd has been studied at the RIBF facility at the RIKEN Nishina Center. The high statistics of the present experiment allowed for a revision of the established level scheme of $$^{130}$$In and the observation of additional $$beta$$ feeding to high lying core-excited states in $$^{130}$$In. The experimental results are compared to shell-model calculations employing a model space consisting of the full major $$N=50-82$$ neutron and $$Z=28-50$$ proton shells, and good agreement is found.

The $$beta$$ decay of $$^{129}$$Cd, produced in relativistic fission of a $$^{238}$$U beam, was studied at the RIKEN Nishina Center. From the $$gamma$$-ray analysis, 31 excited states and 69 $$gamma$$ ray transitions were established in the level scheme of $$^{129}$$In, and compared with state-of-the-art shell-model calculations. It was found that the $$beta$$ decay of $$^{129}$$Cd is dominated by Gamow teller transitions, but a non-negligible contribution to the $$beta$$ decay is also made by first-forbidden transitions. To estimate the contribution of first-forbidden transitions is important for calculations of the $$beta$$-decay half-lives of nuclei in this region.

The $$beta$$-decay half-lives of 110 neutron-rich isotopes of the elements from Rb to Sn were measured at the RIBF Facility at RIKEN, Japan. The new data demonstrate the persistence of shell structure far from stability and have direct implications for the $$r$$-process calculations. In particular, the new half-lives have a global impact on the calculated $$r$$-process elemental abundances, and alleviate the underproduction of isotopes just above and below the A=130 peak, which in the past required the introduction of shell structure modifications. Reaction-network calculations based on the new data reinforce the notion that the r-process abundance pattern may result from the freeze-out of a (n,$$gamma$$)$$_leftarrow^{rightarrow}$$($$gamma$$,n) equilibrium.

The decay of an isomeric state in the neutron-rich nucleus $$^{129}$$Cd was observed via the detection of internal conversion and Compton electrons. This measurement provided the first experimental information on excited states in this nucleus. The isomer was populated in the projectile fission of a $$^{238}$$U beam at the RIBF facility at RIKEN. From the measured yields of $$gamma$$ rays and internal conversion electrons, E3 multipolarity was tentatively assigned to the isomeric transition. A half-life of 3.6(2) ms was determined for this new state which, by comparison with shell-model calculations, was tentatively assigned a spin of (21/2$$^+$$).

A new isomer with a half-life of 23.0(8) ms has been identified in $$^{126}$$Pd at 2406 keV excitation. The proposed spin and parity configuration is 10$$^{+}$$, with maximally aligned configuration of two $$h$$$$_{11/2}$$ neutron hole. $$beta$$-decay from the long-lived isomer was also observed to populated excited states at high spins in $$^{126}$$Ag. The small energy difference between the 10$$^{+}$$ and 7$$^{-}$$ isomers in $$^{126}$$Pd was interpreted in the frame of the monopole shift of the 1$$h$$$$_{11/2}$$ neutron orbit. The effects of the monopole interaction on the evolution of single-neutron energies below $$^{132}$$Sn are discussed in terms of central and tensor forces.

A low-lying state in $$^{131}$$In, the one-proton hole nucleus with respect to double magic $$^{132}$$Sn, was observed by its $$gamma$$ decay to the beta emitting isomer. The new state, which was populated both in the beta decay of $$^{131}$$Cd and after beta-delayed neutron emission from $$^{132}$$Cd, was identified, at an excitation energy of 1353 keV, as the previously unknown single-hole state with respect to the $$^{132}$$Sn core. Exploiting this crucial new experimental information, shell-model calculations were performed to study the structure of experimentally inaccessible $$N$$=82 isotones below $$^{132}$$Sn. The results evidence a surprising absence of proton subshell closures along the chain of $$N$$=82 isotones. This finding bears consequences on the evolution of the $$N$$=82 shell gap along the r-process path.

「天体核物理のためのコンピュータインフラストラクチャー」は、これまで天体物理シミュレーションにおける最新の核物理データの包含を能率化するように開発された。この「インフラストラクチャー」はnucastrodata.orgで自由にオンライン利用可能なコンピュータコードの集まりで、プラットホームに依存しないように構成されている。今回、原子核質量模型の可視化ツールにおいて反応・崩壊Q値、安定核種、魔法数、r過程経路などの表示/非表示など、新しい機能を追加し、利便性をより高めた。

インターネット上で利用可能な天体核物理に関するコンピュータシステムのサイトを再構築した。これは、天体物理のシミュレーションを最新の原子核物理の結果を用いて行うように作成されたシステムで、URL: nucastrodata.orgから無料で利用可能である。Java言語を用いて作成されたシステムであり、Windows, Macintosh, Unixといったプラットホームに依存せず、数回のマウス操作で中性子捕獲反応率、原子核質量等といった核データの可視化や、p過程やr過程といった元素合成計算の結果をアニメーション動画として表示することを平易に行うことが可能である。今回の再構築で特に原子核質量の可視化及びr過程元素合成の動画化のシステムを新たに開発した。
