It has made a significant progress in space weather research and operational forecasts, publishing over 500 refereed journal papers and organizing four international symposiums, various workshops and seminars, and summer school for graduate students at Rikubetsu in 2017. This paper is a summary report of the PSTEP and describes the major research achievements it produced.

In the Tono Geoscience Center, Japan Atomic Energy Agency, There are two AMS systems (JAEA-AMS-TONO-5MV and JAEA-AMS-TONO-300kV). This presentation will compare the differences between the JAEA-AMS-TONO-5MV and JAEA-AMS-TONO-300kV. In particular, we will discuss extraction voltage of the ion source, relationship between terminal voltage and charge states, transmission, difference in cathode shape, and so on.

Radioactive concentration of short-lived gas nuclides produced via air activation by neutron in the hot-cell was measured using a plastic scintillator gas monitor in Materials and Life Science Experimental Facility at J-PARC. However, conversion factors (CF), the ratio of radioactive concentration to count rate, had been unknown for the short-lived nuclides of C, N and O. Therefore we evaluated them with Monte Carlo method using Geant4. As a result, the CF's were shown to be almost constant in the energy region of -rays emitted from these short-lived nuclides and Ar. Then we adopted the CF of Ar, which is certified by the vendor, as those of the short-lived nuclides.
