It is known that the S=1/2 three-leg spin tube has a spin gap for sufficiently strong rung coupling. If the XXZ anisotropy is introduced to this system, a quantum phase transition would occur from the gapped to gapless phases. We will report the result from the theoretical study using the numerical diagonalization and the finite-size scaling analyses.

We have studied magnetic excitation of UPdAl which is an iso-structural compound of a heavy fermion superconductor NpPdAl. We have observed CEF peaks which indicate a localized character of 5 electrons with U (5f) configuration.

External heating of magnetic confined plasmas can trigger an improvement of edge plasma confinement, i.e. L-H transition. Recent phenomenological progress on the transition has mainly focused on the identification of quasi-periodic oscillation of turbulence fluctuations, i.e. limit-cycle oscillation. We here report the role of zonal flows on triggering L-H transition, using a developed one-dimensional reduced predator-prey model. We also propose transient particle injection can be another trigger of the L-H transition. Besides, we introduce other recent theoretical and numerical studies of the L-H transition.

The neutron powder diffraction for the multiferroic material, NdCrTiO has been carried out to investigate the development of the magnetic order in the material. We found the intensities of magnetic peaks increased with decreasing temperature below the transition temperature T. We discuss temperate dependence of magnetic moments and the development of magnetic order.

52% Si enriched high quality single crystal sample of YbRhSi is prepared. Spin-lattice relaxation time T1 has been measured in this sample. The quantum critical point appears at 0.66T for H//c and 0.06T for H//a, respectively. This time, T-dependence of T1 for H//c and H//a has been measured dwon to 40mK. The enhancement of 1/T1T is observed. In addition, 2 components of T1 are observed.

The spectra of the Cu L-edge resonant inelastic X-ray scattering on high-Tc superconductor cuprates are examined with numerical calculations on finite-size clusters of the Hubbard model. We discuss the dependence on the incident photon energy in the spectra in hole- and electron-doped cases, respectively.
