テクネチウム-99及びヨウ素-129の核変換用ターゲットの基礎特性

テクネチウム-99及びヨウ素-129を安定核種に核変換できれば、高レベル廃棄物処分にかかわる長期の潜在的危険性を低減できる。テクネチウム-99の核変換用ターゲットの基礎物性データとして、テクネチウム-ルテニウム合金の熱膨張及び比熱容量を測定した。ヨウ素-129の核変換用ターゲットについては、適切な化学形を選択するために、ヨウ化物、ヨウ素酸化合物、ヨウ化酸化物を対象に文献調査を行うとともに、特性評価試験及びターゲット調製試験を実施した。

The concept of transmutations of Tc-99 and I-129 to stable nuclides is an attractive option to reduce the long-term risk of the storage of high-level waste from nuclear reactors. For the target for transmutation of Tc-99, the thermal expansions and heat capacities of Tc-Ru alloys were measured to build a database of the Tc metal target. For the target for transmutation of I-129, literature survey and experimental studies on characterization and fabrication of targets were made to select suitable chemical forms for the target. In the literature survey, chemical forms of iodide, iodate and iodide oxide were considered.
