Modification of C$$_{60}$$ thin films by ion irradiation

Irradiation effect of 7 MeV $$^{12}$$C$$^{2+}$$ ions on C$$_{60}$$ thin films on Si(111) substrates were investigated. Raman scattering spectroscopy showed that C$$_{60}$$ film had been already polymerized and that depolymerization of the polymerized C$$_{60}$$ films progressed up to the dose of 1.1$$times$$10$$^{14}$$/cm$$^{2}$$. After the depolymerization, the C$$_{60}$$ films were transformed into a form of amorphous carbon at higher dose. The AFM analysis of conductivity of the film shows the results consistent with the Raman-scattering-spectroscopy analysis of the film.
