原研は国内の諸機関との間でノルウェー・ハイデンにあるハルデン沸騰型重水原子炉(HBWR)を利用した多くの共同研究を行っている。これらの共同研究は、OECD/NEAハルデン原子炉計画(ハルデン計画)への原研の加盟期間の更新に合わせて、3年毎に更新する二者間の共同研究契約に基づいて実施している。本報告書は、各の共同研究についてその目的、内容及び1994年1月から1996年12月に亘る3年間の研究で得られた成果の概要をとりまとめたものである。今期は10件の共同研究を行い、このうち2件が終了し、残り8件が時期期間への継続となった。研究項目は多岐にわたるが、その多くは、軽水炉燃料の高燃焼度化に対応した改良燃料や被覆管の照射挙動研究とプルサーマルの本格導入に備えたMOX燃料照射研究である。

JAERI has performed cooperative researchies with many Japanese agencies and companies by means of the Halden Boiling Heavy Water Reactor(HBWR) which is located at Halden in Norway.
