小特集「ダイバータ研究の現状と課題」の総括として重要な結論と、近い将来解決されるべき課題をまとめた。あわせてガス・ダイバータの問題点にも言及した。低温高密度ダイバータと、それによる遠隔放射冷却が、炉心にもっとも整合性のあるダイバータの特性として位置づけられている。ダイバータ特性を決定する輸送過程は、磁力線方向は古典理論で説明可能であるが、磁場に垂直方向の拡散は異常拡散であるため、データベースの構築と、それによる比例則の確立が急務である。ガスダイバータは、炉心の閉じ込めならびに限界や密度限界との整合性や運転領域が狭いことなどから、炉心の概念と相いれないものと考えられる。

An overall summary of this topical review is presented. Some important issues that should be addressed in future research activities are discussed to provide a guideline for research in this area. Some technical problems associated with the gas divertor concept are also discussed.
