自由電子レーザー(FEL)の医学応用は、特に超伝導高周波リニアックで駆動されるFELは小型,高効率,高出力,波長可変,極短パルス等々であることから極めて有望に見える。まず超伝導リニアックFELは概略説明され、そのすべての優れた特徴と近い将来のロードマップが議論される。最後に可能で有望なFELの重要応用が紹介され、特徴に関連して議論される。

Medical applications of Free-Electron Lasers(FELs), especially the FEL driven by a superconducting rf linac, look very promising because of the compactness, high efficiency, high power capability, tunability, ultra-short pulse width and so on. Here, the linac-based FEL is explained briefly and discussed all about the remarkable features and the road maps near future. Finally, some possible and usable applications of the FELs will be introduced and discussed in the relationship with the features above.
