多目的高温ガス実験炉のバックアップ炉心として、内面冷却型燃料棒(セミピン型)を用いた燃料体から構成される炉心について、燃料および可燃性毒物の装荷法ならびに制御棒引き抜き計画などを検討するとともに、炉心の核特性、熱流動特性や安全特性などの総合的な特性を解析した。その結果、本炉心は炉心設計基準を満足するとともに、セミピン型燃料体が十分Mark-III型燃料体の代替燃料体となりうることが明らかにされた。
