Multivariate analysis for groundwater chemistry near the Mizunami underground research laboratory

Todaka, Norifumi*; Ajima, Shuji*; Akasaka, Chitoshi*; Nakanishi, Shigetaka*

One of the tasks in the program of the MIU is development of methodology for evaluating geochemical effects caused by construction of underground facilities. M3 and TOUGHREACT analyses was conducted to verify their modelling applicability and to construct a geochemical model for predicting perturbations caused by the shaft excavation. The groundwater in the Tono area were classified four type. Many reactions suggested by the mixing calculation are in good agreement with earlier groundwater model.
