Electro-pulse column (II) test report (the second); The first half year report of 1985

not registered; not registered; not registered

Forthe purpose of reducing Plutonium in FBR fuel reprocessing process electrochemical method has been developed. As a part of the program full scale electro-pulse column equipment (EPC(II), U and RI can be used) was installed in 1983 at the 1st EDF. This report summarizes the results of experiments performed in the first half of 1985 succeeding the former year. Experiments consist of 13 Runs varying the basic parameters in aqueous phase reduction mode and the following informations were derived. (1)The acid concentration of the feed solution has severe influence not only on the voltage between terminals but also on U reduction rate. (2)The behavior of the secondary generated gas can be qualitatively explained by considering redox potential, electric conductivity, supplied current, feed U concentration and so on. (3)The U reduction rate equation applied in diffusion limited region which was derived in the former report is supported by electrode reaction rate theory and its application range was expanded. (4)It was confirmed again that H$$_{2}$$ gas generation rate and HN$$_{3}$$ formation concentration were in safety range.
