Improvement and maintenance of finite element nonlinear structural analysis system "FINAS" (V)

A general purpose finite element nonlinear structural analysis system FINAS has been developed since 1976 for structural design of fast breeder reactor (FBR)components. Improvement and maintenance of this system has been continued hitherto. This report describes the results of improvement and maintenance which were carried out during September 1985 to February 1986. FINAS is equipped with basic capabilities of a general purpose program as the results of the initial five years development. However improvement and enhancement of this, system are needed to cover more wide range of problems. In this year, solver module, inelastic analysis, fluld-structure interactions analysis and dynamic analysis were mainly improved and developed in consideration of computational efficiency. The first part of this report is the result of maintenances and improvements obtained in this year. In second part, the theory of structural analysis and numerical method employed in FINAS are described. Finally, numerical examples intended for verification and demonstration of applicability to practical problems are illustrated.
