岐阜県東濃地方に分布する瑞浪層群土岐夾炭層の凝灰質砂岩のフィッション・トラック年代

Fission track ages of tuffaceous sandstone from the Toki lignite-bearing formation of the Mizunami group in the Tono district, Gifu prefecture, central Japan

岐阜県南東部に分布する中新統瑞浪層群最下部の土岐夾炭累層について、フィッション・トラック年代測定と記載岩石学的性質に基づいて、その堆積年代を検討した。試料はボーリングコアから得た4つの凝灰質砂岩である。また、砕屑物の供給源である可能性の高い、基盤の土岐花崗岩も併せて分析した。凝灰質砂岩及び土岐花崗岩中の斜長石の屈折率分布から、凝灰質砂岩は安山岩質凝灰岩と花崗岩起源の砕屑物の混在物であることが明らかになった。また、ジルコンの粒子年代分布を統計的に解析し、同一年代とみなされる粒子集団を分類した結果、1721Ma及び5667MaのFT年代が識別された。若い方の年代は凝灰岩の年代を表すと考えられ、土岐夾炭累層の堆積年代を示す。古い方の年代は、土岐花崗岩(FT年代は5961Ma)の年代とほぼ一致する。上位層の堆積年代に関する従来の研究結果を考慮すると、土岐夾炭累層は約18.521Maに堆積したと推定される。

Depositional age of the Toki Lignite-bearing Formation of the lowermost part of the Miocene Mizunami Group, which is distributed in the southeastern part of the Gifu Prefecture, central Japan, has been investigated by fission track (FT) dating and petrographic description. The samples used here are four tuffaceous sandstones collected from drilling cores and two granites of the Toki Granite, which is possible source of detritus of the Toki Lignite-bearing Formation. Tuffaceous sandstones are estimated to be mixture of andesitic tuff and granitic detritus. Two FT age clusters, 17-21 Ma (early Miocene) and 56-67 Ma (late Cretaceous to early Tertiary) are obtained by a statistical treatment of the distribution of zircon grain age. The younger age cluster is regarded as the age of andesitic tuff, indicating the depositional age of the Toki Lignite-bearing Formation. The older age cluster is nearly same as the zircon FT age of the Toki Granite (59-61 Ma). The depositional age of the Toki Lignite-bearing Formation is inferred to range from 18.5 to 21 Ma, taking the previous study on the depositional age of the overlying formation into consideration.
