Recent progress in laser-driven X-ray laser research in JAEA is reported. In the application of the X-ray lasers, surface information of the ferroelectric material has been obtained by use of X-ray laser speckle technique. In the development of the X-ray lasers we have demonstrated substantial lasing at a wavelength of 18.8 nm with the pumping energy of around 2 J by use of grazing incidence pumping scheme. We have also progress in the development of the driver IR laser with repetition rate of 0.1 Hz, which make it possible to realize high-repetition rate fully coherenrt X-ray laser.
