Fabrication of Ni$$_{2}$$In$$_{3}$$ alloy nanotubes

Alloy nanotubes were successfully grown by a self-organization. They were produced by an annealing of carbon - nickel - indium mixture thin films that were prepared by pulsed laser deposition. The structures were observed and analyzed by a scanning electron microscope and a transmission electron microscope. The diameters were several tens nm and the aspect ratios were more than 2500. The annealing temperature was somewhat lower than the melting point of the alloy; therefore it was a supercooled state. The growth mechanism is suggested by the driving force originated from supersaturation of alloying liquid indium with solid nickel.
