窒化鉄薄膜の偏極中性子回折による巨大磁気モーメントの検証

Fe$$_{16}$$N$$_{2}$$化合物は、純鉄の飽和磁化を越える巨大磁気モーメントを持つとの報告があるが、その定量的な値は実験的に確定しているとは言い難い状況である。また、その起源に関しても、bct構造を持つFe$$_{16}$$N$$_{2}$$の中で、Nが規則配列した$$alpha$$相に起源があるとする説が提唱されてはいるが、実験的にもバンド計算でも、否定的な見解が出されており解明には至っていない。この薄膜の飽和磁気モーメントの大きさを定量的に決定するために行った偏極中性子回折実験の結果について発表する。

A giant magnetic moment which was larger than the saturation magnetization of pure Iron was reported in Fe$$_ {16} $$N$$_ {2}$$ thin films, but a reliable value of the giant moment has not been experimentally fixed yet. In addition, the origin is still an open question although several models has been proposed. One of them is that $$alpha$$ phase of Fe$$_{16}$$N$$_{2}$$ in which N atoms are ordered in the bct structure is the origin of the giant magnetic moment. It is, however, not supported by the band calculation of this compound. In this talk, polarized neutron diffraction experiments will be reported to determine the accurate magnitude of the saturated magnetic moment of this film.
