The dose calculation system IMAGINE for remotely providing accurate doses for X-ray therapy has been developed. The system performs Monte Carlo simulations with precise models on the patient body and the irradiation head exclusively at the dose calculation center, and provides the calculated dose distributions to the hospital through computer networks. The system can be operated remotely by plural different users in parallel, and support many medical facilities widely. The system intends to provide benchmark doses which would be used for the quality assurance and control (QA/QC) of radiation therapy, and also to support advanced treatments like IMRT and CTRTx (CT radiotherapy) which need sophisticated dose calculations. The system will be completed in FY2007 after being modified considering consequences of the verification test.
