FBR cycle technology development in Japan

日本の高速増殖炉サイクル技術開発

永田 敬

Nagata, Takashi

In Japan, the significance of the development of fast reactor cycle technology has been recognized once again in the national fundamental nuclear energy policy. And also, Nuclear as a whole is indispensable worldwide to meet the expansion of energy demand and the solution of environmental problem such as climate change. In this situation, Japan launched the Fast Reactor Cycle Technology Development (FaCT) project in 2006. When implementing FaCT project, international cooperation among the interested countries for Research and Development of FBR Cycle Systems is quite important. JAEA will efficiently implement the Research and Development by using both bilateral and multilateral cooperation such as Global Nuclear Energy Partnership (GNEP), Generation IV International Forum (GIF), and International Project on Innovative Nuclear Reactors and Fuel Cycles (INPRO).
