Linear relation between magnetic chirality and spontaneous polarizatin in multiferroic $$R$$Mn$$_2$$O$$_5$$ ($$R$$=Ho, Er)

Polarized neutron scattering experiments have been performed on multiferroic materials $$R$$Mn$$_{2}$$O$$_{5}$$ ($$R=$$Ho, Er) under electric fields to study the direct relation between the electric polarization and the magnetic chiral structure of Mn spins. It is found that the magnetic chirality is proportional to the polarization, consisntent with the inverse-DM model.
