By the combination of laser induced breakdown spectroscopy and laser ablation resonance spectroscopy, we are developing the remote analysis of impurity and isotope ratio in the nuclear fuel material. The purpose of this study and some recent results are discussed. In the breakdown spectroscopy, the basic process of plasma emission was characterized and the linearity of the atomic emission strength to the impurity density was confirmed in the measurements of Cu in the matrix of Gadlinium. In the isotope ratio measurement, high resolution observation conditions were performed and odd isotopes of Gadlinium were separately detected by laser ablation resonance absorption spectroscopy.
