Progress in ITER project

In the ITER project, the ITER Organization formally entered into force, on 24 October 2007. At the same time, Japanese government has designated the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) as the Japanese Domestic Agency. The first Procurement Arrangement for the superconductors for TF coils has been signed between the ITER Organization and the JAEA, on 28 November 2007. According to the Procurement Arrangement, the contracts for the superconductors have been made between JAEA and Japanese manufacturers, in March 2008. The fabrication of the superconductors was launched. The recent progress in the superconducting coil system of the ITER is reported.
