Generating energetic protons with intense lasers for photo-medical applications

光医療応用のための高強度レーザーによる高エネルギープロトン発生

The case is presented for proton therapy of malignant tumors. The advantages of laser-driven proton sources are given. The state-of-the-art for laser acceleration of protons is presented with scaling quantities that are important. Finally the Photo-Medical Research Center (PMRC) is described followed by a general summary.
