The IFMIF was conceived as a solution to connect the developmental study of the DEMO-oriented fusion materials and the application for the design and operation of the DEMO, by supplying a neutron irradiation test bed. Its concept was established in 2003 and the Engineering Design and Engineering Validation Activities (EVEDA) was proposed as the important step to complete the engineering design for making a decision of construction of the IFMIF. Since middle of 2007 the IFMIF/EVEDA was started as one of the three projects under the Broader Approach activities, and many supplementary studies to complete the conception to build up the contents of the tasks were carried out this one year. The coordination of the project is insured by a Project Team in Rokkasho relying on the engineering and experimental work carried out as Tasks. The overview of the project plan and important technology base will be presented in addition to the organization structure for undertaking all works.
