Behavior of Si impurity in Np-Am-MOX fuel irradiated in the experimental fast reactor Joyo

In order to understand the fundamental behavior of metallic impurity in the minor actinide (MA) fuel is useful to study the fuel design and to relax the fuel specifications. The effect of large amount of metallic impurity (silicon) on the fuel restructuring and cladding corrosion has been examined by post-irradiation examinations (PIE). The aim of this report is to briefly summarize the results in order to elucidate the effect of metallic impurity on the fuel behavior and demonstrate the integrity of Si-rich MOX fuel.
