Status of the Japanese HTGR and nuclear hydrogen program

The HTTR Project is underway at JAEA to study the technology development for the commercial HTGR on the basis of "The Framework for Nuclear Energy Policy" issued by Japan Atomic Energy Commission(Oct. 11, 2005). The HTTR Project covers all the fields necessary for the commercial development, including nuclear technology, hydrogen production technology, gas turbine power generation geochronology and commercial design study. The paper introduces the major fruits from the HTTR Project, future plan and the perspective towards the hydrogen economy.
