New driver laser system for double target X-ray lasers at JAEA

We have developed new driver laser system (TOPAZ: Twin OPtical Amplifiers using Zigzag slab) dedicated to generate highly coherent X-ray laser with the double target scheme at the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA). The laser system consists of Ti:Sapphire oscillator, pulse stretcher, OPCPA, prepulse generator, flash lamp pumped zigzag slab Nd:glass amplifiers, pulse compressor, and line focusing system. The TOPAZ system can be operated at the repetition rate of 0.1 Hz which is hundred times higher than the present system. The generated X-ray laser will be used in several application researches.
