Study on strength evaluation of oxide scales formed on HCM12A in LBE by ring crush test

Yamaki, Eriko*; Kikuchi, Kenji

Surface oxide layer is thought to be anti-corrosive effect on the structural material in lead bismuth eutectic application. Studies hitherto focused only on the oxide structures themselves but not on the mechanical strength. This research proposed the ring crush test in order to evaluate the strength of oxide layers. The ring disc cut from the tube with having oxide layer at inner surface was compressed mechanically in order to realize the stress state from tension to compression. Then after unloading the fracture and deformation of ring was analyzed whether the proposed test was effective or not.
