Safeguards activities at Tokai Reprocessing Plant (TRP)

SG activities are performed at TRP according the IAEA SG agreement, etc. JAEA had developed many SG devices under the programs of TASTEX, JASPAS and Joint Research between JAEA and US DOE. SG activities are performed for TRP operations, nuclear material inventory and transfer and others. The SG activities for TRP operations are performed with 24 hrs inspector presence. For inventory and transfer of nuclear material as spent fuels, process vessels, MOX powder, etc. are verified. The methods for the SG activities are ID check, level reading, DA, NDA measurement, etc. Over 700 IAEA inspectors in total come to TRP a year to perform the SG activities.
