The dynamics and stability of the resistive wall mode (RWM) are investigated in the JT-60U high-$$beta$$ plasmas, and the sustainment of high-$$beta$$ plasmas above the ideal no-wall $$beta$$-limit has been demonstrated using a plasma rotation. We have successfully sustained $$beta_mathrm{N}simeq3.0$$ for $$sim5mathrm{s}$$, which is about 3 times the current diffusion time $$sim3tau_mathrm{R}$$. In this high-$$beta_mathrm{N}$$ regime, new MHD instabilities have been observed, that is, an high-$$beta_mathrm{N}$$ bursting mode (HBM) and a slowly growing mode (SGM). These modes play important roles for a MHD stability in the wall-stabilized high $$beta_mathrm{N}$$ region. These results suggest that the kinetic contribution and the rotational shear are important to determine the RWM stability.
