Silicon carbide (SiC) based micro fibers with continuous pore structures were synthesized by the precursor method from the polymer blend which contained polycarbosilane (PCS) and polymethylhydrosiloxane (H-oil). The pores in the fibers were formed during melt-spinning. In order to find the main cause of making the pore structures, we tried to investigate the characteristics of the precursor during the melt-spinning. It was found that Si-H bond in H-oil caused hydrogen gas evolution during the heating and the desaturation of the gas during the melt spinning. It was considered that the adjustment of the hydrogen solubility of melting polymer blend enables to make pores in the fibers.
