Study on radiological protective actions in the long-term exposure situation

Takahara, Shogo  ; Kimura, Masanori ; Homma, Toshimitsu

The long-term exposure situations in case of nuclear emergencies are caused by the controllable and non-regulated radiation sources. The protective systems which are recommended by the 1990 recommendation of ICRP do not consider such radiation exposure situations. In order to investigate the response frameworks for the long-term exposure situation, we have summarized the 2007 recommendation and investigate the lessons learned from Chernobyl accident. The long-term exposure situation can not describe and response using general method. A decision making related to the protective actions in the long-term exposure situation can not be always justified in terms of scientific and quantitative basis. One of the methods to justify the decision making in the long-term exposure situation is procedural approach such as stakeholder participation.
