Neutron scattering study of spin ladder compound Na$$_2$$Fe$$_2$$(C$$_2$$O$$_4$$)$$_3$$(H$$_2$$O)$$_2$$

Matsuda, Masaaki; Honda, Zentaro*

We performed neutron inelastic scattering experiments in Na$$_2$$Fe$$_2$$(C$$_2$$O$$_4$$)$$_3$$(H$$_2$$O)$$_2$$ that consists of two-leg spin ladders of Fe$$^{2+}$$ ions. We observed sharp magnetic excitation peaks around $$sim$$3.5 meV and $$sim$$5.3 meV. This result shows that the magnetic excitations originate from almost isolated dimers, indicating that the interaction along the leg direction is negligibly small.
