Toward integrated, laser-driven ion accelerator systems for hadron therapy at PMRC

The development of laser-driven proton/ion accelerators using intense laser drivers is now feasible especially at low particle energy. The promise of compactness and reduced cost also makes affordable many new applications. This talk summarizes our main application to hadron therapy of cancer but also presents concepts for beamline control and diagnostic requirements for proton irradiation of cancerous tissue.
