Impact of incident energy dependence of prompt fission neutron spectra on uncertainty analyses

Chiba, Go; Nagaya, Yasunobu

In the present study, uncertainty propagation from prompt fission neutron spectra (PFNS) to neutronic parameters is rigorously calculated with considering incident energy dependence of the PFNS which has been conventionally neglected. It is shown that the conventional procedure for the uncertainty propagation calculations results in a larger PFNS-induced uncertainty of criticality than the present procedure. The present study suggests that the correlation between different incident energy ranges of the PFNS has a large impact on the uncertainty propagation calculations for neutronic parameters.
