Numerical study of RF schemes for non-scaling FFAGs

We numerically explore one of the rf schemes in a non-scaling FFAG accelerator, "Harmonic jumping with modulation". First, we derive the Hamiltonian describing longitudinal motion. Various parameter-dependences are explored for accelerating a train of bunches. It is shown that the harmonic jumping scheme is limited to three bunches in a train and works best for a single bunch. A larger initial harmonic number and/or a smaller synchronous phase is desirable to increase the number of protons to be effectively accelerated in a bunch train.
