To investigate instabilities driven by high-energy particles in a fusion plasma, we apply the so-called Berk-Breizman model, which is an augmentation of the 1D Vlasov-Poisson system including distribution relaxation and extrinsic damping. The nonlinear evolution of a perturbation is obtained by a semi-Lagrangian numerical code. We categorize the nonlinear behavior of the solutions in the whole parameter space for a cold bulk, weak warm beam distribution, and recover analytic predictions.
