Design concept of the J-PARC polarized neutron reflectometer

We have started designing a polarized neutron reflectometer which is mainly aimed at magnetic samples and can be used for any non-free interfaces. In order for GISANS measurements and measuring small samples, we are developing focusing neutron supermirrors which have large critical angles and are coated on precisely figured aspheric surfaces. For the implementation neutron supermirrors with high reflectivity ($$Rsim80$$%) at a large critical angle ($$q_csim$$0.88 ${AA}$) have been developed and ultra-high precision aspheric surfaces have been figured on synthesized quartz glass with numerically controlled local wet etching. In this contribution, design concept of the J-PARC polarized neutron reflectomter will be presented together with test measurements of a prototype focusing supermirror.
