Effect of hydration on protein dynamics observed by inelastic neutron scattering

Nakagawa, Hiroshi

Protein structure is thermally fluctuating, and this structural mobility essentially contributes to the protein function. Protein hydration affects the protein dynamics. Protein dynamics is closely related with the stability and biological function. Therefore, the study about the hydration-related protein dynamics is important. Inelatic neutron scattering is effective method to study the low-energy dynamics with THz region, which is significantly affected by hydration indicated by theoretical study.
