Design of scientific concept vocabulary for annotation method of visualization system

Kino, Chiaki; Suzuki, Yoshio   ; Takemiya, Hiroshi

We proposed Scientific Concept Vocabulary (SCV) model that is a framework to numerically treat physical meanings in a visualization system. This model enables a system to process numerically concepts and interpret physical meanings. Additionally, we proposed Scientific Perception Frame (SPF) to annotate meaningful information in a readable format to human. In the present paper, we designed vocabularies and applied the visualization system with the annotation method to data from numerical simulation of a nuclear power plant. An object of the numerical simulation is analysis of flow structure for a nuclear power plant. The present result shows that SCV and SPF enables a visualization system with annotation method to interpret physical meanings of its numerical simulation result and displays "break-ups of liquid film" or "a downward trend of average velocity" that is meaningful information from a viewpoint of nuclear power engineering.
