Theoretical research on surrogate reaction, 1; Verification of the surrogate ratio method

Difference in the spin-parity distributions of surrogate and neutron-induced reactions is investigated. It was found that the surrogate ratio method would work if (1) the weak Weisskopf-Ewing condition, defined in this work, is satisfied, (2) the spin-parity distributions in the 2 surrogate reactions are equivalent, and (3) the difference of the average spin values in the surrogate and neutron-induced reactions is not much larger than 10 $$hbar$$.
