Laser drive plasma X-ray laser is one of the most brilliant X-ray sources. Owing to recent progress in the source development, the fully spatial coherent soft X-ray laser at a wavelength of 13.9 nm with the repetition-rate of 0.1 Hz is now routinely available in Japan Atomic Energy Agency (Kizu site). The X-ray laser pulse involves more than 10$$^{10}$$ photons in 7 ps duration. Such a bright, coherent, and picoseconds X-ray pulse can be used in a variety of applications such as X-ray speckle measurement and interferometer for probing materials, single-shot diffraction imaging, nano-fabrication, and so on. Some results of the X-ray laser applications, especially in material science, will be presented.
