Distribution and accumulation of water in the polymer electrolyte fuel cell performed by small-angle neutron scattering

Putra, A.; Yamaguchi, Daisuke; Koizumi, Satoshi

Small-Angle Neutron Scattering (SANS) method was used to study the distribution and accumulation of water in the polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEFC). It was found that SANS method was capable to detect and visualize movement of water microscopically in a membrane electrode assembly (MEA) of an operational fuel cell. Further, the SANS method was to be a strong tool to make a rather precise analysis on the water content inside of ion conducting channels of polymer electrolyte membrane.
