Study on flow-induced-vibration evaluation of large-diameter pipings in a sodium-cooled fast reactor, 25; Investigation on mechanism of pressure fluctuation at elbow using LES

Large-eddy simulation (LES) has been carried out on the flow in a large-diameter elbow. The visualized analysis result showed that the periodic fluctuation of pressure at an elbow was a phenomenon similar to the vibration caused by such instability of wake flow as is observed around a circular cylinder.
