Characteristics of $$gamma$$-ray response of Radix W dosimeter in several kGy range

Ichikawa, Tatsuya*; Seito, Hajime; Sato, Yoshishige*; Takehisa, Masaaki*; Kojima, Takuji; Watanabe, Hiroshi*

$$gamma$$ response of Radix W in the dose range of 1 kGy to 10 kGy was investigated using a readout wavelength of 280 nm. The dose response curve was linear. The coefficients of variation at different doses were within 1%. The influence of irradiation temperature on the dose response was negligibly small in the range of 10 - 28$$^{circ}$$C. Influence of post-irradiation temperature was less than $$pm$$ 4% at 7$$^{circ}$$C - 30$$^{circ}$$C even after 24 hour storage. These facts show Radix W enables to measure precisely doses in the range of 1 kGy - 10 kGy by employing readout wavelength of 280 nm. Radix W can be applied to practical use in food radiation processing.
