Development of PC-based control system in JT-60SA

JT-60 Real Time Control System (RTCS) is mainly composed of a workstation for control program development and a VME-based real time controller using a Real Time OS (RTOS) "VxWorks", many of whose control functions have been modified with the progress of JT-60 plasma experiments until now. The "VxWorks" is the most commonly used RTOS in the embedded system markets. However, the introduction cost seems too much higher than those of other RTOSs. In JT-60SA control system, basically, the existing system is required to be reused efficiently. Therefore, we are planning to choose another RTOS instead of "VxWorks". As a next RTOS, the following requirements have to be satisfied: (a) It shall be more cost-efficient than the existing one. (b) It employs a general-purpose Personal Computer (PC). For all of these reasons, we have chosen "INtime (for Windows)" as RTOS and begun the development of JT-60SA RTCS with a general-purpose PC in which "INtime" is installed. In this report, the developmental status of JT-60SA control system will be described.
