Current status of FBR "Monju"; From the view point of maintenance for restart of long-term shut-down plant

The sodium leak accident in a secondary main cooling system of prototype fast breeder reactor Monju was occurred on December 8th in 1995 and the Monju has shut down since that. The confirmation of systems and components integrity toward restart of Monju was started in 2006, and consists of inspection and performance tests of components including repair, renewal and improvement. The integrity confirmation was completed in the December 2009 for the systems and components needed core confirmation test which is the first test after restart. Monju restarted on May 6th 2010 and the core confirmation test was successfully completed on July 22nd.
